Digital technologies are the most potent innovation of our times and have propelled us collectively towards the most efficient, productive, and creative we have ever been.

However, like other innovations in the past, they are also riddled with warped incentives and misuse by bad actors resulting in large-scale fallouts – online child sexual exploitation and abuse, screen addiction, privacy breaches, harassment, misinformation, polarisation, teen mental health issues, frauds & scams, to name a few. These harms have escalated manifold with the Generative AI, and urgent action is required to prevent further fallouts.

Very few civil society organisations in India work to protect users’ digital rights. and we struggle to keep up the fight given the lack of resources. India continues to be experimentation ground for extractive tech platforms from the Global North, making Information Literacy & Responsible Tech development a need-of-the-hour to help build Indians’ resilience in the online ecosystem, as we march on the path of technological progress.
