Abstract: The CDF Youth Dialogue Forum is a space for youth-centred discourse, bringing together voices from different fields and disciplines to work towards constructive and collaborative problem-solving. By facilitating such a dialogue, CDF aims to enable the youth to factor the experiences and challenges of diverse groups, tackle issues from different angles of expertise and unite these perspectives in a holistic discussion.
The My Data My Rules iteration of the Youth Dialogue Forum was held on 26th January 2025, Republic Day – as an in-person discussion and public consultation on the draft rules of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA) 2023.
Public consultations unfortunately stay confined to rooms of experts, often excluding the ordinary Indian citizen, whose data this law has been designed to protect in the first place. CDF set out to bridge the gaps in the public consultation process, recognising the importance of civic participation in shaping India’s first comprehensive data privacy law.
