Abstract: This ready reckoner, a collaborative effort between Citizen Digital Foundation and Space2grow, is a comprehensive guide delineating the capabilities and risks of Generative AI (Gen AI) for children. It elucidates Gen AI’s ability to generate content across domains while providing an objective assessment of associated risks like hallucinations, privacy breaches, inherent biases, and artificial intimacy. The guide also covers misuse cases such as discrimination, deepfakes, and malicious exploitation. Crucially, it equips young users with strategies to mitigate these risks and harness Gen AI ethically, offering recommendations on fostering critical thinking and best practices when engaging with Gen AI tools. The publication also curates tools and educational resources tailored for creative and academic applications of Gen AI, empowering children to explore these technologies safely and productively.
